I went through a rough stage of my art developing. I just had to break out of the mold l’d created for myself and start working in more layers and texture. Also, I bumped against some of the worst artist block ever and couldn’t get an idea in my head that I liked so I started just with abstract compositions and color and built it up until I finally liked something. This painting could easily be over 40 layers of dried paint and glazes and palette knife scrapes. I titled it “Through The Storm” because I felt I was going through a storm and working out my frustrations and perseverance throughout the painting. Sometimes even a fight can be beautiful in hindsight.
