This piece honors Elvis Presley’s deep faith through the tradition of stained-glass art. The vibrant, luminous aesthetic of church windows seemed the perfect medium to celebrate both his spiritual devotion and his powerful gospel performances.
The title comes from one of Elvis’s most beloved gospel songs—a performance that showcased the reverence he felt for sacred music. Throughout his career, gospel remained his first love, from his childhood in Tupelo’s Assembly of God church to his Grammy-winning albums “How Great Thou Art” and “He Touched Me. “
For Elvis, gospel wasn’t just music—it was ministry. He often said his gospel recordings were what truly mattered to him, believing his voice was a gift from God meant to uplift and inspire. The stained-glass aesthetic captures how his performances transformed secular venues into spaces of worship, with divine light filtering through song.
In this piece, I envision Elvis in eternal praise, his music forever part of the heavenly choir he always dreamed of joining.
